Walter Kenneth "Walt" Fulton
December 18, 1947 ~ November 11, 2015
Walter “Walt” K. Fulton, 67, of Lexington Park, formerly of Plattsmouth, NE, died Veterans Day November 11, 2015 at Fair Oaks Inova Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Walt is survived by his wife, Vona, whom he married on May 16, 1970. He is also survived by two children: his daughter Jennifer Cook and Wayne Cook of California, MD and his daughter Amy Kettelle and Joshua van der Smissen of Lexington Park, MD. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Hailey Grzemkowski, Cole Kettelle, Ayden van der Smissen, Nicole Cook and Onnela van der Smissen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Grace Fulton, his brother H. Dale Eledge, his sister Barbara Jura and his grandson Nathaniel Grzemkowski.
He was born December 18th, 1947 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. He graduated in1966 from Plattsmouth High School. After graduation he attended Wayne State Teacher’s College in Wayne, NE. In 1968, he joined the Navy and was assigned to basic training in San Diego, CA. After AW “A” school, in Millington, TN, he was assigned to VP-46 at Moffett Field, CA. He served twenty years in the Navy retiring honorably as a Chief in 1988. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Navy never left him, as friends and family will attest. After his military service, Walt joined the civilian workforce as a technical writer with PRB/Northrop Grumman Corporation retiring in 2008. In 2011 he worked as an MSF Motorcycle Safety Instructor.
Walt was an avid Nebraska football fan, had a deep love for Country, family and riding his motorcycle. His hobbies included Hunter Safety instruction, SCRC Chapter 290 First Officer and Chaplain, GWRRA-MD-I Chapter Educator and member of the PaxRiver skeet club. He was a member of Hollywood United Methodist Church, The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and University of Nebraska Alumni.
Walt touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a life celebration on Friday December 18th at 4-6pm at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. His internment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions are welcome in Walt’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project. http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/

He will be missed. He played Santa Claus for PRB for may years bring joy to the families. He was a good man.
Walt, may God hold you in his arms. You will be missed by your many friends. While we were separated by many miles, you were never forgotten.

My sympathy to the Fulton family. I worked with Walt and thought he was such a wonderful person. Always pleasant and happy. He will be missed.
