Wayne Lester “Vince” Vincent, 85, of Leonardtown, Maryland, passed away January 11, 2025, in Leonardtown, Maryland. Born on October 22, 1939, in Portage, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Hopeful Lester Vincent and the late Norma Catherine Schultz Vincent. Wayne attended Portage High School, Portage, Wisconsin and joined the U.S. Navy shortly after graduating in 1958, where he served for 21 years. He retired from the U.S. Navy Submarine Service in 1979. While in South Carolina, he attended Clemson University in Charleston. Wayne was employed by BAE Systems, California, Maryland for 27 years while residing in Leonardtown, Maryland. During his time in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, Wayne and wife, Barbara, were active members at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Leonardtown, Maryland, where he served as Vestry member, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, and Lay Reader. Wayne also served on the Leonardtown Planning and Zoning Board. He held the distinguished elected office as Vice President of the Leonardtown Board of Commissioners. Wayne was also a member of the American Legion. After his retirement, Wayne and his wife, Barbara, moved to Sebring, Florida. There he held office as the Federation of Manufactured Homeowners (FMO) Association District 6 President. Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Ann Porter Vincent. He is survived by his children, Debra Noel Hall of Great Mills, Maryland, Theresa Beth Lawrence (Dave) of Okeechobee, Florida, Carol Ann Strohmeyer (Joe) of Leonardtown, Maryland, Wayne Lester Vincent, Jr. (Wendy) of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Michael John Vincent (Debora) of Chaptico, Maryland, as well as 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Wayne will be cremated, and his ashes will be interred with his wife, Barbara, in the Columbarium at St. Andrew’s Church. Interment will be private. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.A., Leonardtown, MD.
