Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 28 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Msgr. John Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held on Monday, December 27 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM. William Albert "Porkey" Nelson, Jr., of Avenue, MD died December 22, 2004 in Washington, DC. Born July 31, 1941 in Leonardtown, MD he was the son of the late Virginia H. and William Albert Nelson, Sr. He was the loving husband of Anne Nellie Nelson, whom he married on July 13, 1963 in Holy Angels Church. He is survived by his children, Terrie Nelson of Chaptico, MD, Al Nelson of Coltons Point, MD, and Keith Nelson of Leonardtown, MD and 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Eleanor Williams of Hughesville, MD and Sharon Palmer of Bushwood, MD. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Owens and Gloria Tippett and his brother, James "J.C." Nelson. He was a life-long St. Mary's County resident and a graduate of Margaret Brent High School, Class of 1959. He was the owner of Nelson Masonry for 43 years where he worked as a Brick Mason. Mr. Nelson also served in the U. S. Army for 3 years. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and car racing in his spare time. Prayers will be said on Monday, December 27, 2004 at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where the family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Justin Robert Quade, Robert Gordon Quade, Jay Owens, Pete Cameron, Dave Mahmoud and James "Duffy" Owens.
