William Eugene “Bill” Sievers

William Eugene “Bill” Sievers, 76, of Leonardtown, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2026.

Bill was born on September 18, 1950, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to the late Harry and Pauline Sievers. He moved to St. Mary’s County in 1969, where he would build his life, raise his family, and become a longtime member of the community.

Bill married the love of his life, Linda, on October 8, 1971. Together they shared 55 years of marriage, creating a life filled with family, hard work, laughter, and countless memories.

Bill was a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sievers; his children, BJ Sievers (Jessica) of Leonardtown and Brandi Johnson (Billy) of Callaway; and his grandchildren, Aubrey (Courtney), Delaney, Asher, and Rowan, who brought him tremendous pride and joy, and his brothers Robert Sievers, John Sievers (Sandy), and Terry Sievers.

In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his siblings Ronald Sievers, Richard Sievers, and Vickie Sievers.

Bill was a hardworking and talented man who started his career by joining the United States Navy in 1969, where he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He ended his Navy career in the Naval Reserves in 1975. He transitioned to support the Department of Defense as a civilian Electrical Engineering Technician before finishing his working years as a Logistics Management Specialist in 2006.

Outside of work, Bill found happiness in the simple things. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He was a man who could fix almost anything, and his family knew that when something broke, there was a good chance Bill could figure out how to make it work again.

Bill will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his talents, his humility, his thoughtfulness, and the way he protected and cared for the people he loved. Above all, he will be remembered as a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His absence will be deeply felt, but the love he gave his family and the memories he created with them will remain forever.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD with Rev. Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will of follow in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be BJ Sievers, Aubrey Sievers, Billy Johnson, Danny Ray Adkins, Dave Adkins and Brian Adkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Delaney Johnson, Asher Sievers, Rowan Sievers, and Courtney Abell.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospice and St. John Francis Regis Church.

  10. Louise & Willam Barnes says:

    Linda,
We were so sorry we heard of Bill’s illness then of his passing. Your memories of the wonderful times you shared will help you get through the hardest times. I remember seeing the two of you in Walmart and Bill spoke then walked away after seeing that we were ‘blocking traffic’ in the aisle with our silliness. To the Sievers Family, we give our heart-felt condolences. Take care of each other
