Services: A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 5, 2006 at 10:00 AM in St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Raymond Schmidt officiating. Inurnment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2006 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 3:00 PM followed by Knights of Columbus Prayers at 3:15 PM William "Bill" "The Hat Man" Richard Missler, United States Navy retired, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, May 29, 2006. Bill was born on May 14, 1945, in Toledo, OH where he attended St. Frances De Sales High School and the University of Toledo. His parents, Virginia Grace and Walter William Missler, both of Toledo, OH will miss their son very deeply. He married the love of his life, Judith Virginia Missler, on February 4, 1967. No two people ever loved each other like they did. They were married for 39 wonderful years. Bill was very proud of the 22 years he spent serving his country. Upon his retirement from the Navy, he and his wife remained in St. Mary's County, MD, where he spent the next 10 years as a water treatment operator for the Metropolitan Commission. Bill fought a long and arduous battle against cancer. But during those trying years, everyone who met him couldn't help but laugh at the "man with the funny hats". Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ormsby. He is survived by his loving and very dedicated wife, Judith, three children; Christopher (Kylene) of Crestview, FL, Timothy (Colleen) of Okinawa, Japan, Andrew (Jyl) of Round Hill, VA, seven grandchildren; Virginia Missler, Shannon Missler, Whitney Taylor, Brody Missler, Logan Missler, Jarod Missler, and Aidan Missler. He is also survived by three sisters; Carolyn Brenning, Mary Lou Czerniak both of Toledo, OH and Kathy Weaver of Temperance, MI, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends that he considered family. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4, 2006 from 2:00 â?? 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 3:00 PM followed by Knights of Columbus Prayers at 3:15 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 5, 2006 at 10:00 AM in St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Raymond Schmidt officiating. Inurnment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Contributions may be made to Cancer Support Group of St. Mary's Hospital, P.O. Box 527, Leonardtown, MD 20650, St. John's Building Fund, P.O. Box 69 of Hollywood, MD 20636, and/or Covenant Hospice, Crestview Office, Crescent Park Medical Complex, 370 Redstone Drive, Crestview, FL 32536, in memory of William "Bill" Missler, for their loving support.
